Guy Caruso
Administrator of the EIA, US Department of Energy
Guy Caruso was nominated by President Bush to be Administrator of the Energy Information Administration (EIA), which provides the Department of Energy with energy related data, in 2002. Caruso’s previous experience includes working at the International Energy Agency (IEA), and serving as Director of the National Energy Strategy (NES) project for the United States Energy Association (USEA). He has over 30 years of experience working in the energy field.
Caruso holds a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.S. in Economics from the University of Connecticut, as well as a Masters of Public Administration from Harvard University.
Santiago Kawarim
Former President, Finae (Nation of Achuar)
Santiago Kawarim is the President of the Achuar tribe, one of the most remote tribes in the Amazon rainforest. The Achuar tribe consists of approximately 4,300 people in 50 communities across the rainforest. Under Kawarim’s leadership the Achuar have spoken out against the devastation to their homeland inflicted by oil companies. He says, “To be an Achuar is to be a warrior.”
Kawarim is one of two Achuar of his generation who have attended high school. Before becoming President, he worked as a teacher in an Achuar school.
Matthew Simmons
CEO, Former Energy Advisor, Bush Administration
Matthew Simmons is the chairman and CEO of Simmons & Company International. Simmons is the author of the book Twilight in the Desert: The Coming Saudi Oil Shock and the World Economy. He graduated cum laude from the University of Utah and received a Masters degree with distinction in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He served as energy adviser to George W. Bush and was an advisor to Vice President Cheney’s 2001 National Energy Policy Development Group.
